As 6th grade Homeroom teacher, I am lucky enough to help guide students through their first experiences as middle schoolers. There are wonderful moments like watching them open their lockers for the first time or helping them unravel the mysteries of the middle school daily schedule. Most importantly, all of my old jokes are new again! Classes will be action-packed! History classes will be chockfull of projects from Tibetan prayer-flags of the life of Buddha to stained glass windows depicting scenes of Medieval Manor life. We’ll watch exciting videos about the life of Neanderthals or the Be-bop movement in American Jazz. Math classes will be classic in form, notes and drilling, but I will also have some exciting math games and group activities for them as well. Finally, class would not be complete without the “Big Desk” and the “Comfy Chair!”
