The First Grade program focuses on teaching reading, writing and math.The reading curriculum uses a phonetic approach to teach reading in addition to using a literature based reading program. Daily writing instruction encompasses sentence structure, multiple-sentence paragraphs, creative writing and poetry. Math stresses the importance of competency in the knowledge of basic math facts. In addition, the program includes daily religion instruction and motor skills. Students work with a science, art, music, P.E. and Computer Technology specialist as well.
